It is a known fact that overweight and obese people are more prone to excessive sweating as they perspire more. However, excessive perspiration can be also due to several underlying medical conditions such as menopause, psychiatric illnesses and very active thyroid glands. Excessive sweating is also known to occur to people with no known medical condition and thus the cause of heavy sweating for this group of people is unknown.

It is very distressing to suffer from over sweating and many people with this condition also suffer from low self esteem. This is because excessive sweating may cause them to have undesirable body odor, looking unkempt and dirty.

It is easier for those who are overweight to reduce excessive perspiration since it is just a matter of reducing their body fat weight. Losing weight is easy with the right combination of exercises and healthy eating habits. Many people who find it hard to lose weight and disagree with me that losing weight is easy is because they are doing it wrongly.

If excessive sweating is localized on parts of the body such as armpits, palms or the soles of feet, then treatments may be necessary to reduce over perspiration. Sometimes anti-perspirants applied to the affected body part may just stop excessive sweating albeit temporarily.

Simple and non surgical medical treatments that are known to reduce or even sometimes stop excessive sweating successfully are Iontophoresis where a low electrical current is introduced to the affected parts of the body or getting Botulinum toxin injections commonly known as Botox injections.

If you are suffering from excessive sweating and over perspiration, and since this condition is most prevalent among people who are overweight, go get a medical check up to see if you are obese. If you are, then embark on a healthy diet and exercise program and your excessive sweating condition may be solved permanently.

If you feel that you sweat excessively, please consult your doctor and find out. There is no measurement of normal sweating. So each of us have to find out if we are sweating excessively, normally or very less. If excess perspiration is your problem, find out more about it through the articles on this blog and related links. Please note that excessive sweating may be of two types. In the first instance your body naturally sweats more and in the second instance, you sweat more because of some conditions and diseases. The first condition is called primary hyperhidrosis and the second one is called secondary hyperhidrosis. In primary hyperhidrosis excess sweating occurs mostly on hands, feet and armpits.

Common reasons for excess sweating – Some foods and drinks can make you sweat excessively. Drinks that contain alcohol or caffeine may induce excess sweating. Similarly some spicy food may make some people sweat heavily.

Excessive sweating may also be due to hereditary reasons. Please find out if your parents also had this problem.

If you are on medication, find out from your doctor if they are causing excessive sweating. Some drugs induce heavy sweating.

Women going through menopause may get hot flashes and excess sweating. Similarly males who have low levels of male hormone testosterone may experience hot flashes.

Some diseases and conditions can produce profuse sweat. Heart attack, malarial fever, other fevers, thyroid condition, tuberculosis, some fevers, low blood sugars and other diseases may make you sweat excessively. You should consult your doctor about these conditions.

Please consult your doctor if you suddenly break into cold sweat. That may be emotional in origin or physical. Similarly if you find a sudden change in body odor, you should tell your doctor about that. You may suffer some problems if you sweat excessively compared to others. Your toenails may develop fungal infections. Athletes foot may be another problem, as may be jock itch. For primary hyperhidrosis many treatments are available that can control the sweat within acceptable limits. Keeping yourself clean and dry at all times is another way of maintaining good hygiene.

This article is only for informative purposes. This article is not intended to be a medical advise and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Please consult your doctor for your medical concerns. Please follow any tips given in this article or blog only after consulting your doctor.

Underarm sweating is also known as axillary hyperhidrosis in medical terminology and is a medical condition, which is described as a condition involving dripping of sweat in the armpits, with a constant odor. This odor is usually resistant to all types of deodorants. Underarm sweating is a type of primary hyperhidrosis, which can be present in a person in singular form, or may be in conjunction with any or all other types of hyperhidrosis—this may include hands, feet, and face as affected areas.

Underarm sweating is one of the most troublesome forms of hyperhidrosis, as it produces odor, which makes working in a social sector a real task for the patients. It is believed that the sympathetic nervous system of the person over-stimulates the sweat glands, which cause underarm sweating. Though, almost all people have underarm sweating while doing some heavy physical work and exercise, but axillary hyperhidrosis occurs even in normal conditions. However, under stress and anxiety, this condition may increase considerably.

The problem of underarm sweating generally begins in the adolescence years; however, there are reported cases of children suffering from this problem. The severity of the problem increases in children, as they spend much of their time with friends in schools, playgrounds, and other areas. Their friends tease them and crack taunts, which can hurt the feeling of a child and can make a permanent impression on his or her mind—this may further lead to withdrawal effects and social phobias in the later stages of the life. Proper attention should be taken by parents in order to make their children come out of this problem and not have social insecurity about their future, which can hamper the overall personality of the child. Usually parents tend to deny this sort of thing, and sometimes they refer it to as a cosmetic problem, when actually this is a medical problem and should be dealt accordingly.

Symptoms of underarm sweating

As it is already pointed out that this is one of the most troublesome conditions in hyperhidrosis, the symptoms of underarm sweating are most prominent. Sweat in armpits will make rings in the clothes of the person and will leave stains that can be very clearly seen. Underarm sweating also has odor, which is resistant to deodorants and cannot be controlled thus. If underarm sweating is present with other types of hyperhidrosis, then night sweating and hot flashes can also be associated with this condition. Though sweating is normal to the human body, excessive sweating is the direct symptom of any kind of hyperhidrosis.

Underarm sweating and social sector

It is an irony of the fact that underarm sweating poses more social problems than the medical problems for the person suffering from it. People suffering from underarm sweating face severe social and psychological problems while interacting with people and working in conditions where many people are working in closed conditions. Sometimes the effect of these problems overwhelms the person completely and it becomes extremely hard for the person to fit in its own environment. The career plans also suffer, as the person is short of confidence and faces self-esteem problems. However, psychological advice and counseling can help greatly in order to bring out the person from this mental trauma.

Players and persons who work in factories and manufacturing companies will also have to look for some treatments and other alternatives in order to keep themselves focused in the work.

Underarm sweating and clothes

Underarm sweating cause great embarrassment due to soaked clothing. Some patients use various strategies in order to keep their underarm sweat under control like using pads, shields, absorbent tissues, and frequent clothing changes, which helps in minimizing the severity of the odor arising of sweat, and thus allowing to work comfortably. It is noticed that many people suffer emotional anxiety due to this problem apart from the occupational problems that they have to face.

The choice of clothes gets reduced for a person who has excessive underarm sweating. Silk and nylon are not preferred for sweat and light colors are also avoided. This leaves fewer choices and also increases the effort that you will have to put in selecting your clothes. Women feel this problem, as silk is one of the most wanted fabric among women!

Diagnosis of underarm sweating

Hyperhidrosis and excessive sweating in general is believed to be a hereditary problem and proper diagnosis of this problem is pretty much necessary to reduce the impact of this problem. As it is known that sweating is necessary for human body, the approach to diagnosis for underarm sweating starts with the assessment of the excessiveness of the sweat amount. There are different methods for assessment of severity of sweating, which are known as practical, qualitative, and quantitative methods.

During the evaluation of a patient with underarm sweating, it is sometimes necessary to assess the rate of sweat production and the effects of the problem on the patient’s quality of life. The problems faced by the person and the impairment of abilities due to underarm sweating also serve as a valuable guide for proper diagnosis of this problem. In general cases, a sweat stain around the shoulders of around 5 cm in diameter is believed to be normal, but it is falls in 5-10 cm, then mild axillary hyperhidrosis can be expected. Sweat stains of 10-20 cm are associated with moderate axillary hyperhidrosis, while stains over 20 cm are related to severe form of axillary hyperhidrosis.

The quantitative method to diagnose underarm sweating is known as gravimetric measurement, which can also be done on the palm. However, it is more limited to clinical measurements and may not be used in general diagnosis.

The treatment of underarm sweating depends greatly upon the proper diagnosis of the problem. It should be made clear that the hyperhidrosis is not secondary in nature, which is totally different from primary hyperhidrosis, and is caused by some other problems. The treatment for secondary hyperhidrosis, then, should be focused on the specific disease, which is causing excessive sweating.

Treatment of underarm sweating

Antiperspirants are used for paltry treatment of underarm sweating, which is not a comprehensive treatment and have few results. Some other medications are also prescribed, but they still have not complete impact on the problem. Surgical treatments are looked upon as the complete solutions, but very obviously, like any other surgical treatments, they are associated with multiple side effects—sometimes more severe than the original problem itself!

Compensatory sweating is one of the most common side effects of surgical treatment for underarm sweating, while scars and slow healing of wounds are also associated with it. After going surgical treatment for underarm sweating, other parts of the body start sweating. This sometimes also includes night hyperhidrosis or sleep hyperhidrosis, which involves excessive sweating during night or sleep—the person wakes up totally drenched in the sweat! Sometimes other microbial problems and skin problems also arise due to scars and slow healing of wounds. In some cases it is also noticed that scars sometimes reappear after once fading after the surgery, which is annoying for the patient, who has already suffered much!

Surgical treatments are, clearly, not a panacea for underarm sweating or any types of hyperhidrosis.

This is a question that I’ve asked myself many, many times. Well used to….when I was a teenager and in my early twenties I was plagued with the embarrassment of excessive sweating and spent hours researching causes and solutions to my problem.

I discovered that sweating is a natural bodily function that is essential to life. However, for some people, including myself excessive sweating is an embarrassing problem that affects them to the point of mental distress. I didn’t realise that so many people were affected and it was comforting to know that I wasn’t alone.

Sweating too much is classified as a medical condition that causes an abnormal amount of sweat to be excreted in excess to that required of normal body regulation and is named hyperhidrosis. Although this medical condition is not fatal, it can be really embarrassing and mainly comes in the form of sweaty palms, underarm sweat or facial sweating.

Sweating in the face is the most obvious of all and was the one thing that I really needed to stop. It caused me nervousness and distress with drips coming down my forehead and onto my face, and the more nervous I got, the worse it became! As I continued to research, I found out that sweating is your body’s temperature control function. The sweat glands produce perspiration which is brought to your skin’s surface when your temperature goes up. It is your body’s way of getting rid of excess heat which is produced by metabolism or working muscles and the amount of sweat produced depends on the state of your emotions and physical activity which means that if we are exercising or working physically hard, we of course expect to sweat, just as when you’re about to do a presentation or interview, you are likely to be sweating bucket loads.

It was after months of research and testing different products and solutions that I finally stumbled upon “Stop Sweating and Start Living” by Mike Ramsey. If you are to try one product that will help solve your problem then I recommend this one, as it really did change my life and boost my self confidence. Check it out here.

Sweating is normal, everyone does it and everyone should. It is the body’s way of getting rid of toxins in your body. It is a physiological process that our body uses for defensive purposes and is a natural phenomenon in our body just like when our stomachs digest food and when we breathe.

Sweating is normal, everyone does it and everyone should. It is the body’s way of getting rid of toxins in your body. It is a physiological process that our body uses for defensive purposes and is a natural phenomenon in our body just like when our stomachs digest food and when we breathe.

Hyperhidrosis however, is a medical condition that causes perspiration far greater than the physiological needs of the body. Hyperhidrosis is basically the medical name for overactive sweat glands, and is a fairly rare condition that affects about 3% of all humans. It mainly comes in the form of excessive underarm sweating and problems tend to start in late adolescence, while palm and sole sweating often begins earlier, around the age 13 (on average). Untreated, these problems may continue throughout life and for those who do suffer from this condition, life can be very hard.

It can cause embarrassing moments at work, at school even when socializing. Having to carry around a paper towel due to excessive sweating, or a spare shirt/top, in your bag can be a nightmare but underarm sweating should not be taken in silence. If the condition is already affecting your everyday life, it needs a lot of attention, but there are solutions to this condition.

One solution that has proven to be highly successful for many sufferers has been the best selling book – Stop Sweating and Start Living, by Mike Ramsey.
In fact, excessive sweating is a common abnormality among many people, all around the world. It is the moisture given off by the skin from activity of the sweat glands. The characteristic odour of sweat is caused by the breakdown, or decomposition, of the sweat by bacteria. Sweat is regulated by the Sympathetic Nervous System, which controls about five million sweat glands in a body. About half of those glands are located in the hands. Sweat is not only normal and natural, it is indeed necessary. Its main function is to cool our body when it gets heated up through physical exertion, emotional stress or other physiological stimuli

.

The amount of sweat produced depends on our state of emotions and physical activity which means that if we are exercising or working physically hard, we of course expect to sweat. Unwanted or excessive sweating is a condition known as hyperhidrosis and is most often a result of over anxiety and stress. This is when the body seems to sweat uncontrollably in situations where most people seem to remain dry. This how I felt for years until I finally managed to treat my condition. Everyone used to tell me, if you get anxious or stressed out the just take a moment to chill out. It didn’t help!

Hyperhidrosis can either be generalized or localized to specific parts of the body. Hands, feet, axillae, and the groin area are among the most active regions of perspiration due to the relatively high concentration of sweat glands; however, any part of the body may be affected. Hyperhidrosis, however, is not an uncommon problem, especially at a low level of severity. If you have it, you are not alone. There are many hyperhidrosis treatments on the market, however I found that Stop Sweating, Start Living was the one that really acted fast and helped me regain my confidence.
Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is a condition that affects millions of people. Many of these people suffer in silence. Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is regulated by our sympathetic nervous system. Our nervous system increases the blood flow to our skin cells and causes more sweating while you are doing physical activity.

Hyperhidrosis affects between 1 and 2 percent of the population and is mostly inherited. Hyperhidrosis is the condition of too much sweating, and this can be extremely embarrassing. If you suffer from excessive sweating then you know what it’s like to be in the middle of an important business engagement while your hands and body are covered with sweat.

One of the most common symptons of excessive sweating is Palmoplantar (sweating of the hands and feet) hyperhidrosis, which is most common in men. It is mostly intermittent and majored by stress. Palmer Hyperhydrosis is also known as excessive sweating of the palms.

Underarm problems tend to start in late adolescence, while palm and sole sweating often begins earlier, around the age 13 (on the average). Untreated, these problems may continue throughout life. It can be severely embarrassing when shaking hands with people and can cause stress and anxiety if not treated.

There are many methods of treatment on the market and I would recommend seeking medical advice, however, if you are looking for an inexpensive method that acts fast, then check out Cure My Sweaty Palms by Andy Goodman.
